Welcome to the official starting guide for your Trezor® hardware wallet. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to safely set up, connect, and use your new crypto security device. Whether you're just entering the world of digital currencies or upgrading your storage method, you're in the right place.
📦 What Comes in the Box?
- Your Trezor device (Model T or Model One)
- USB-C or Micro-USB cable
- Recovery seed cards
- Instruction booklet and stickers
🔌 Step 1: Connect Your Device
Using the included USB cable, plug your Trezor device into your computer. The screen will light up and display a welcome message.

💻 Step 2: Download Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official application for managing your crypto portfolio securely.
- Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Download only from the official Trezor website
- Install the application and open it once complete
📥 Step 3: Install Firmware
If this is your first time using the device, Trezor Suite will prompt you to install firmware. Follow the steps:
- Click “Install firmware”
- Do not disconnect the device
- Wait until the process is complete
🔐 Step 4: Create a New Wallet
After firmware installation, you will be asked to create a new wallet or recover an existing one.
- Choose “Create new wallet” if this is your first time
- Follow on-screen instructions to proceed
🧠 Step 5: Write Down Your Recovery Seed
The most important step in crypto security: write down your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase on the cards provided.
🔑 Step 6: Set Your PIN
Your device will prompt you to set a PIN. This adds an extra layer of protection if the device is stolen.
- Choose a PIN that you can remember
- Avoid repeating numbers or easy patterns
- Enter and confirm on your Trezor device
📊 Step 7: Add Crypto Accounts
Now your Trezor is ready. In Trezor Suite:
- Click “Accounts” > “Add account”
- Choose the cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, LTC, etc.)
- Your wallet will sync and display balances
📤 Step 8: Sending Crypto
To send crypto:
- Click on “Send”
- Enter recipient’s address, amount, and fee
- Confirm all details on your device
Your Trezor will ask you to verify everything before sending. This keeps your funds safe from software-based attacks.
📥 Step 9: Receiving Crypto
Click on “Receive” to get your address. Your Trezor device will display the receiving address.
Only copy the address after confirming it matches the one on your device screen.
♻️ Step 10: Keep It Updated
Security updates protect against new threats. Trezor Suite will alert you when:
- A new firmware is available
- Software updates are needed
Apply updates regularly to stay protected.
🔄 Recovering an Existing Wallet
If you already have a recovery seed from a previous Trezor or other BIP39-compatible wallet:
- Select “Recover wallet” on setup
- Enter your recovery phrase directly on the device
